Board of Directors for 2010–2011

Derek Soukup

Working as a Production Artist at Lawrence & Schiller for nearly 5 years, Derek has been a part of many print and web projects as well as video productions and photography. Well versed in the print industry he has worked his way through the ranks, at one time even running a printing press. In his “spare time” he videos weddings for fun and enjoys camping with his wife Stephanie and two teenage children Logan and Ashley.

Julie Hoyer

Julie Hoyer is a Marketing Specialist at SDN Communications. Julie has been in the advertising field for over nine years and has held marketing positions in both corporations and advertising agencies. The best part of her job? Playing a part in developing strategies for powerful marketing campaigns.

Julie has been on the board for the South Dakota Advertising Federation for the past five years and serves as the organization’s past president. She is also a member of  Toastmasters International, Business and Professional Women (BPW) and South Dakota Communicators Network (SDCN). She is also active in Junior Achievement, United Way, Health Connect of South Dakota, and the American Cancer Society.

Julie and her husband also own and operate Next Edge Academy of Martial Arts, a mixed martial arts school in Sioux Falls.

Eric Vasgaard

As a Keyframe Account Manager, Eric works with professional and college sports teams and facilities, broadcast networks, sponsors and ad agencies in the South Central and South Western US.  Those who travel with him make fun that he packs a larger suitcase than a female………but he claims it’s for hauling his 10-gallon hat and license plate belt buckle when in Texas, his shuffle puck sticks and cheap meds to distribute for trips to the gray & blue hair state (Arizona) and his surfboard and paparazzi cameras when in California.

Hugh Weber

Hugh Weber is President and Curator of Storyline, an organization dedicated to helping individuals and collectives discover their hidden stories that are both unique and universal.  Hugh is also founder of DudetoDad.com, a community of nearly 60,000 new fathers worldwide.

Heather Covrig

Heather Covrig is an Account Executive with Paulsen Marketing and has just recently celebrated her 5-Year Anniversary with the company.  She graduated from South Dakota State University with a bachelor’s degree in Journalism with an emphasis in marketing and advertising and minors in Business and Spanish. During her senior year at SDSU, Heather also served an internship with Paulsen.

Heather is a member of SDAF and is the membership chairperson for the second year running and is honored to serve as Secretary as well. She is also a member in good standing of the National AgriMarketing Association (NAMA).

Heather and her husband Eric live in Sioux Falls with their children, Gavin (3), Taylor (18 mo) and Harper (1mo)

Andrew Brynjulson

When polled, 4 out of 5 of Andrew’s aunts said that he was the best graphic designer, creative strategist and marketing mind in the whole, wide family. He also boasts a 100% satisfaction rating with his design from his mother. Andrew spends his days at Astronaut Studio crafting brand strategies for only the bravest of sustainable businesses, his nights at Harlequin Studio, a printmaking business that he co-founded, and his theoretical free time freelancing as Brenni Fresh Creative.”

Leigh Jerzak

Leigh Jerzak has been working for Midcontinent Business Solutions as a cable advertising account executive for 6 years.  Leigh enjoys working together with clients to find solutions for all their individual advertising needs and creating targeted television marketing plans.  In her time away from work she enjoys spending time with her husband and her three children, working out, shopping for high heels and anything that sparkles and watching TV, it is part of her job :) .

Mike Hay

Michael began his career 12 years ago in Mankato, MN as an illustrator/designer for greeting cards. Now, as an Art Director at ADwërks, he enjoys work ranging from campaign concepts to executing designs and utilizing social media. In his time away from work, he still enjoys illustrating as well as bicycling, music and reading an occasional comic book.

Mark Henderson

Mark Henderson, also known as “Hendo” around the office, is the Director of Interactive Strategy at Click Rain, Inc.  He is a graduate of South Dakota State University, a seasoned veteran with over ten years experience in his field and has had the opportunity to work with such clients as Anheuser-Busch, Microsoft, Winchester, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Great Western Bank, Sanford Health, and many others.

Mark has lived in Sioux Falls since 2006 with his wife, Kimberly and their three children, Alyssa, Reagan and Holt.

Cathy Krueger

Cathy had been in the print industry for the past 18 years and works for Maximum Graphics as an Account Executive.  Her focus is commercial printing, digital printing and mailing.  Cathy and her husband, Chris, love spending time with their daughter, Hadley.  She also enjoys cooking, gardening and go

Paul VanVeldhuizen

Paul has been in the printing industry since 1995. Paul has owned Alphagraphics since 1997. AlphaGraphics Sioux Falls is a locally owned and operated, full-service printing and visual communications company, dedicated to serving the needs of our customers. We do more than just design, copy and print––we help our customers communicate. Paul has enjoyed his many years as a board member and looks forward to a great year. When not at work he enjoys time with his wife and 4 kids.

Abby Bischoff

Abby is entering her fifth year as Sales & Marketing Director for the
Sioux Falls Arena & Orpheum Theater. She also runs Flock Studio, a
portrait photography business, in her “spare time”. She routinely scores
31 out of 34 on the Font Game.

Ruth Ann Scott

Ruth Ann is the Executive Director of SDAF and is excited to start her 7th year. Ruth Ann is a graduate from USF. Ruth Ann has many hats she wears but has a passion for the future of SDAF and where it goes from here. She also owns her own interior design business, hello., which she does in her spare time. Ruth Ann is married to Pete and they have 2 girls, Elizabeth and Camille.
